CPM-3V: Built for Toughness

CPM-3V is a powder metallurgy tool steel from Crucible, prized for its exceptional toughness and resistance to chipping. It is a favorite for hard-use knives because it handles impacts, twisting, and demanding cuts better than most premium steels while still holding a good working edge. Unlike fully stainless steels, 3V can develop rust if neglected, so the black DLC coating is a smart pairing that protects the blade faces. A quick wipe-down and occasional light oil on the edge will keep it in top shape.

The Malibu Button Lock Flipper

The Malibu is Pro-Tech’s manual button lock flipper, and it is known for exceptionally smooth, fast action. A press of the flipper tab sends the blade open on its ball bearing pivot, and a push of the button lets it drop closed with one hand. The reverse tanto blade delivers a strong, reinforced tip and a long straight edge for clean, controlled cuts. The solid red 7075 aluminum handle keeps the knife light at about 3 ounces, and the black blade and hardware make the red handle pop. As a manual knife with no springs, it can be carried in more places than Pro-Tech’s automatic models.
