About this item
Knafs O.C.T. Pocket Knife in OD Green
The Knafs O.C.T. (short for “Old College Try”) is the first button lock knife from Knafs, the Utah-based brand known for approachable, well-built everyday carry knives. It pairs a 1.89 inch 14C28N steel Wharncliffe blade with a lightweight anodized 6063 aluminum handle in OD Green, smooth ceramic ball bearings, and a crisp button lock made in partnership with Bestech. It is a compact, friendly EDC knife that carries small but handles like something larger, and it is one of the most satisfying fidget knives we have on the shelf at Men’s Modern General Store.

A Small Wharncliffe Built for Real Work
The O.C.T. uses a modified Wharncliffe profile with a touch of sheepsfoot influence. The straight edge and controlled tip make it a natural fit for opening packages, breaking down boxes, cutting cord, and the hundred small cutting jobs that come up in a normal day. At under two inches, the blade stays low key and approachable in an office, on a job site, or out in public, which makes it a strong choice for anyone who wants a capable pocket knife that does not look intimidating. Sandvik 14C28N steel is a smart pick for a daily user: it takes a keen edge, resists corrosion well, and is easy to touch up at home.
Bestech Button Lock Action
This is the first Knafs knife built by Bestech, a manufacturer widely respected for its button lock designs. Press the button and the blade drops closed; flick it and the ceramic bearings carry it open smoothly with a solid, reassuring lockup. The action is quick, quiet, and addictive, which is why the O.C.T. has earned a reputation as a desk-friendly fidget knife. The button itself carries a custom texture inspired by Old Main, the historic landmark on the Utah State University campus where the design began.
Designed by Fitz
The O.C.T. was designed in house at Knafs by Matt “Fitz” Fitzgerald while he finished his degree in Outdoor Product Design and Development at Utah State University, with mentorship from Knafs founder Ben. Fitz worked through cardboard mockups and two full rounds of prototypes to solve the hardest problem in a small knife: giving a short blade a full, secure grip. The result is a contoured aluminum handle where the grind lines flow straight into the handle shape, so the knife settles naturally into your hand. It is his first full knife design and his first maker’s mark on a blade.
Built for Everyday Carry
The anodized OD Green aluminum keeps the O.C.T. light in the pocket while giving it a clean, premium look. A reversible stainless steel deep carry clip lets it ride low and out of sight, and the integrated lanyard hole is ready for a bead or paracord fob. Whether you are new to EDC or adding a small button lock to a growing collection, the O.C.T. is an easy knife to carry every single day.
